Entering her second season as the Foresters’ head coach, Amy Settle is stepping back into the world of coaching and brings with her a wealth of experience and success at varying levels.
Prior to taking over the Forester program, Settle had a three-year stint at Cornerstone University where she amassed a 96-31 record and led her squad to three consecutive conference titles and three consecutive appearances in the NAIA regional finals. She also earned NAIA Region 8 Coach of the Year honors after her first season with the Golden Eagles.
Prior to coaching at Cornerstone, Settle spent a year and a half as an assistant at Morehead State University under former Huntington College Coach Mike Swan. Early in her career she also logged five years of coaching experience at the high school and club level.
“We’re excited to have Amy join our coaching staff,” says Athletic Director Lori Culler. “She has proven herself to be a very successful coach at a variety of levels including the collegiate level. As an alumnae of our volleyball program, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the what it means to compete in the NAIA and the Crossroads League. We’re looking forward to seeing where Amy will take the program and we’re pleased to have her and her family back involved in the HU community.”
The Ossian, Ind. native is looking forward to this opportunity. “As an alumnus of the University and volleyball program, I am pleased to return to HU,” commented Coach Settle.
“I look forward to building upon the foundation we have of outstanding student-athletes and creating a context through which the team can find joy in using their God-given talents and pursue excellence wholeheartedly. We have a great group of young talented players who are poised to take this program to the next level.”
Settle graduated Summa Cum Laude from Huntington with a BS in Elementary Education in 1993. As the Foresters’ four-year starting setter, she helped guide her team to four conference titles and racked up 118 wins against 41 losses.
