Anderson to speak about inclusion, multiculturalism

FOR RELEASE September 24, 2008

David A. Anderson

HUNTINGTON, IN—David A. Anderson will present the Adams Tribute Lecture at Huntington University on Oct. 9.

Anderson’s lecture will be held in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts at 7 p.m. His Forester Lecture Series presentation will include themes from his recent book, “Gracism: The Art of Inclusion.” Anderson’s current ministry seeks to build a multicultural evangelical fellowship of believers.

Even from early on, Anderson knew he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a pastor. He started his journey as a chaplain’s assistant in the Army Reserve. While serving, Anderson also began as a student at Moody Bible Institute. He was involved in leadership at the college and became the first black student body president as well as taking advantage of many other opportunities to practice his speaking and leadership skills.

From college, Anderson went on to become an assistant pastor at Near North Baptist Church, and later a pastoral intern at Willow Creek Community Church. Both of these opportunities provided valuable experience as well as strong relationships for what he is accomplishing today.

Currently, Anderson is the senior and founding pastor at Bridgeway Community Church in Columbia, Md. Bridgeway is a non-denominational church with more than 2,000 people in regular attendance.

Each semester, Huntington University presents the Forester Lecture Series. The lectures are designed to bring interesting persons and topics to the attention of students and the regional community. All lectures are held in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University. The lectures are open to the public free of charge.

The Forester Lecture Series is coordinated by Dr. Jeff Webb, associate professor of history. For further information, contact Webb at (260) 359-4243.
