Huntington to host high school math competition FOR RELEASE September 30, 2008 HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University will hold a mathematics competition for high school students from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 8. Registration is open until Oct. 3. High school teams from Indiana and Ohio will gather in Hiner Hall in the university’s Science Hall to compete for the top prizes, both individually and by team. If enough teams register, the competition will be moved to the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Students begin with a 20 multiple-choice question written test, followed by a quick-response individual round. After lunch, teams will work together on one final round of questions before awards are given. The competition is sponsored by the Huntington University Mathematics and Computer Science Departments and is coordinated by junior Josh Fitzgerald, a math education major from New Haven, Ind., and Dr. Bobbi Buchholz, assistant professor of mathematical sciences.
