FOR RELEASE
2010-03-16
Huntington, Ind.—Author and religious professor Dr. Donald A. Carson will examine “Niebuhr’s ‘Christ and Culture’ at Fifty” at 7 p.m. March 29 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. This presentation is the next installment in the Huntington University Forester Lecture Series.
Carson is a research professor of the New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., and the author of “Christ and Culture Revisited” (2008).
During his presentation, Carson will critique “Christ and Culture,” a book written by H. Richard Niebuhr in 1951 about a Christian’s response to the world’s culture. Carson’s book and presentation corrects what he calls “flaws” in the original text according to the Bible’s teachings. He will then relate this concept to Christians in today’s society.
Huntington University presents the Forester Lecture Series each semester. The lectures are designed to bring interesting individuals and topics to the attention of students and the regional community. The Forester Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
The Forester Lecture Series is coordinated by Dr. Jeff Webb, professor of history at Huntington University. For further information, contact Webb at (260) 359-4243.
