Adjunct professor to perform piano recital at HU

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Huntington University’s Dr. Ji-Young Jeoung will perform a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Longaker Recital Hall in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Jeoung is an adjunct professor of music at HU, teaching piano and applied piano as well as acting as the department’s accompanists.

Her recital will feature pieces from Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt and Kapustin.
The recital is free and open to the public.

A native of Gwangju, South Korea, Jeoung completed doctorate and master’s degrees in piano performance and organ performance from Ball State University. Her doctoral dissertation was an analysis of the solo keyboard works of the distinguished American composer Joan Tower.

Jeoung was the second prize winner at Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition in 2004. She received the Honorable Mention in Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in 2005. She was voted first place in the People’s Choice Competition among those who appeared Northeast Indiana’s National Public Radio Program “Meet the Music” in 2010. She was invited to have her debut performance in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as a first prize winner at American Protege International Piano Competition in 2011. She has performed concerts in locations across the world, including the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
