Jeoung to give piano recital on HU’s stage

Dr. Ji-Young Jeoung, Huntington University, a Christian collegeHUNTINGTON, Ind. — Huntington University’s Dr. Ji-Young Jeoung will perform a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on campus.

Jeoung is an adjunct music professor at HU where she teaches class piano and applied piano, and is one of the department’s accompanists.

Her recital will feature pieces from Bach, Tower and Chopin. The recital is free and open to the public.

Jeoung was born in Gwangju, South Korea. She holds a doctorate and master’s degree in piano performance and organ performance from Ball State University. Her doctoral dissertation was an analysis of the solo keyboard works of the distinguished American composer Joan Tower.

She has performed concerts in locations across the world, including the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. She was the second prize winner at Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition in 2004. She received the honorable mention in Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in 2005. She was voted first place in the People’s Choice competition among those who appeared Northeast Indiana's National Public Radio Program “Meet the Music” in 2010. She was also invited to have her debut performance in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as a first prize winner at American Protege International Piano Competition in 2011.
