Baker earns Forester Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of October 28, 2013. Women’s soccer junior Courtney Baker earned the honor for her outstanding effort over the weekend.

Baker registered both goals in HU’s 2-1 double overtime win at 4th-seeded Mount Vernon on Saturday in first round action of the Crossroads League tournament. After an unassisted goal in the 60th minute of regulation, the New Castle native netted the eventual game-winner with 1:24 left in the second OT off an assist from Becca Grimes to catapult Huntington past the Cougars.

The 5th-seeded Foresters (6-12) will face top-seeded Spring Arbor University in the semifinals of the conference tourney on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

So far this season, Baker has scored three goals and assisted another.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
