Baker named Huntington Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 25, 2013. Women’s basketball junior Courtney Baker earned the honor for her outstanding efforts this past week.

Baker helped lead HU to a 2-1 record last week. She posted 14 points, a game-high three steals and just as many assists and rebounds in a 79-65 win over Indiana Tech on Tuesday. On Friday against 9th-ranked St. Xavier, the 5-5 guard paced HU with 16 points. She also added three rebounds and two steals in the 77-70 loss.

She topped off the week by netting a career-best 23 points in the Foresters’ 121-101 win over #RV Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday. In addition to going 13-for-14 from the charity stripe, she also snagged seven rebounds, dished out four steals and swiped two steals.

On the week, Baker averaged 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals to push HU’s record to 5-3 overall. In national statistics, she ranks 14th in free throw percentage (.903).
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
