Beckler headed to HU to bowl


HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University Bowling Coach Jim Bischoff has added another blue chip recruit to his 2013-14 roster with the signing of Logansport High School standout Derek Beckler.

Beckler has earned quite the reputation around the state, having averaged 218 this past season for the Berries to finish with the eighth highest average among Indiana high school bowlers. As a junior, the right-hander finished 16th as an individual in the State finals and followed up by qualifying for Semi-State this past February.

His team’s MVP the last two seasons, Beckler helped guide his squad to Regionals and a share of the NCC conference title in his final campaign in red and black. The Logansport native has rolled two perfect games.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
