HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University Head Coach Ty Platt has added another sharp-shooter to this fall’s roster with the signing of Tri-Village (Ohio) guard Kyle Pipenger.
This past season, the 6-3 shooting guard guided his Patriot squad to a 26-1 record to go along with a district and conference championship by averaging 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per outing.
He finished his prep career holding the No. 1 spot in Tri-Village history for most field goals made in a season (202) and most points in a season (567). His name will also go down in the record books as the second most prolific scorer in school history with 1,377 points in addition to appearing in the TVHS’s Top Ten in 11 other categories.
As one of his area’s most decorated athletes, the New Paris, Ohio, native racked up a plethora of honors and awards throughout his prep career which included being invited to two All-Star games at the conclusion of his senior season. Pipenger, a two-time CCC and Daily Advocate Player of the Year, was also named the District Nine and Pal-Item Player of the Year this past winter.
A First-Teamer for the All-Southwest District, District Nine and Pal-Item All-Area squads, Pipenger also earned Second Team All-State honors as a senior.
Coach Platt is looking forward to Kyle’s contribution to the program. “Kyle is a strong, athletic, scorer,” noted Coach Platt. “He can either play the guard or small forward position.
“His competitiveness and shooting ability, coupled with his ability to find the open man make him a dangerous player. We fully expect Kyle to have a great career.”
