Davenport, Batt named Forester Athletes of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 6-12. Women’s track senior Lauren Davenport and men’s golf senior Spencer Batt earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Lauren Davenport, an exercise science major from Andrews, Ind. (Huntington North High School), had an outstanding individual performance at the 104th Annual Little State Championships by winning two events. She won the 400 meter run in 58.19 taking nearly a second off last’s week’s time in the event and she won the 400 hurdles in 1:04.11 finishing two seconds ahead of the runner-up. Davenport followed that up by running a leg of the 4x400 in 48.3 seconds. The Foresters return to action at Wilmington College on April 18 at 11 a.m.

Spencer Batt
Spencer Batt, a business management major from New Haven, Ind. (New Haven High School), led the Forester golf team to a win at the St. Francis Spring Invite in the team’s spring opener. He shot a 76 in the first round and then came back with 69 on day two to earn medalist honors with a two-day total of 145. Huntington won the invitational with a score of 593, six strokes better than runner-up Cornerstone. The Foresters next travel to Lafayette to play in the Taylor University Invitational on April 13-14.
