DeBoni, Wood and Sparks headed to NAIA Nationals

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Three Foresters will represent Huntington University at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships slated for May 22-24 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Daniel DeBoni (Goshen, Ind. Goshen H.S.) will be making his first appearance on the national stage to compete in two sprints. The speedster will toe the line as the 22nd seed in the 200 meter trials on Thursday, May 22 at 5:05 p.m. CDT. On Friday at 3:30 p.m. CDT, he will take to his starting blocks again for the 100 meter trials as the 31st seed. Finals for both events are slated for Saturday, May 24 at 4:00 p.m. CDT (100M) and 5:20 p.m. CDT (200M).

Sophomore Krista Wood will also be making her debut at nationals. The Waterville (Ohio) native qualified for the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Crossroads League Championships by running an 11:16.13. She is scheduled to run in the steeplechase trials as the 15th seed at 6:50 p.m. CDT on Thursday, May 22.

Freshman Christine Sparks will be joining Wood in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Thursday. She punched her ticket to the championships back on April 17 at the Spartan Classic where she posted a time of 11:28.58. She enters the race as the 26th seed. Finals for this event are scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
