DePew named Forester Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of April 22-28, 2013. Softball freshman Katie DePew earned the honor for her outstanding effort during the week’s competitions.

DePew, a freshman infielder from Garrett, Ind., batted .555 with four RBI and four runs scored during a 4-0 week for the Foresters. She went 5-for-9 overall from the dish, which included a walk-off single in HU’s 8-7 win over conference foe the University of Saint Francis (Ind.).

On the season, DePew is third on the team in batting (.340) with an on base percentage of .400. She has also posted 12 RBI and scored 15 runs.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
