Fode, Kennedy Forester Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 8-14, 2004. Softball sophomore Kaley Fode and baseball sophomore Joel Kennedy earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week.

Kaley Fode

Kaley Fode, an Elementary Education major from Upland, Indiana (Eastbrook High School), had an outstanding week for the Forester softball team. Fode collected five hits, including a double and a triple, knocked in four runs, and scored two runs in Huntington’s four games this last week. Her highlight of the week came on Wednesday in game two of the Manchester doubleheader. Fode went three for four at the plate and knocked in the game-winner with a clutch two-out single in the bottom of the seventh. Huntington is off to a 1-3 start on the season and has several games this week during their spring break trip in Florida.

Joel Kennedy

Joel Kennedy, a business accounting major from Huntington, Indiana (Huntington North High School), helped the Forester baseball team get off to a 2-0 start in Mid-Central Conference play. Kennedy pounded out four hits, including a bases-loaded double in game one of the doubleheader and totaled four runs batted in on the day. Kennedy also picked up his first win of the season in game two. He went six innings for Huntington giving up four runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks to improve his record to 1-1 on the season. The Foresters are currently 2-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Foresters next travel to Florida for their spring break trip.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 45 NAIA All-American honors and 78 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
