HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Huntington University men’s basketball team hosted 110 campers last week at their annual basketball camp. It marks the 12th year of the program’s camp that boasts over 1,700 alumni.

In addition to helping kids, ranging from K-9th grade, hone their basketball skills, head coach Ty Platt enjoys the interaction between the campers and his players.

“We had a tremendous week,” said Platt. “The campers were energetic, eager to learn and brought a lot of enthusiasm each and every day.

“Our players did a great job of working with all the campers to show them better skills as well as how you can be a Christian, quality, high character basketball player.”

The Foresters return eight players from last year’s squad that went 24-8 last year, finished third in the league standings and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA national tournament. With a core of solid returners coupled with one of Platt’s most talented recruiting classes in five rookies, Huntington is anxious to hit the hardwood this fall

HU opens ups its season on October 31 when they host the Forester Classic.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 38 NAIA All-America honors and 222 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
