The Foresters (16-14) hosted their own tournament on the weekend and dropped two of their three matches. They opened play with a 17-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-15 win over William Penn University, then fell 25-22, 17-25, 17-25, 27-29 to Lindsey Wilson College and 23-25, 14-25, 20-25 to University of Michigan Dearborn.
Against William Penn, Brittney Smelser led the team with 19 kills and nine digs. Alyssa Schroeder had 40 assists, four blocks and four aces.
Smelser paced HU with nine kills, 12 digs and two aces in the Lindsey Wilson match. Schroeder dished out 34 assists and Natalie Villwock chipped in seven kills, three blocks and 10 digs.
In their final match of the day, the Foresters couldn't get much going offensively. Smelser again led HU's attack with nine kills. Schroeder tallied 31 assists and Krista Spearman finished with five kills and three blocks.
