A disappointing back nine dropped the Foresters to a fifth place finish in the Mid-Central Conference Tournament. "The guys wanted to shoot around 300 to finish third and after nine holes, we were on our way with a 151," said Coach Schownir. "But we just haven't been able to finish strong lately." Marian College (904) ran its win streak to eight in a row with their seven stroke victory over Indiana Wesleyan (911). Spring Arbor was third at 931 followed by Bethel (932), HU (935), St. Francis (972), Taylor (981), Grace (1004), and Goshen (1097). The top six teams qualify for the NAIA Region 8 tournament on April 28-29, 2006, also to be held at Rock Hollow Golf Course.
Senior Andrew Porterfield capped off his final MCC Tournament with a two-over par 74. His 230 tournament total placed him in a tie for seventh in the individual standings earning him All-Conference honors for the third time in his career. "I am proud of Andrew," said Schownir. "I'm not sure that Huntington University has ever had a three-time All-Conference player. He came through to have a good round when he really needed it." Marian's Stephen Ford had a three round total of 217 to earn Conference Player of the Year honors.

Three freshman, Spencer Batt, Ryan Bonner, and Justin Imel, each turned in an 80 for the final three scores for the Foresters. "I was happy to see Ryan come back after a rough first day and help us," said Schownir. "I hope this experience will serve all three freshmen well during the next three years. In my four years here, we've never been able to place higher than fifth in the MCC and I'm getting tired of that, but on the bright side, the gap is narrowing."

Other players to join Porterfield and Stephen Ford on the All-Conference team were: Chris Tilbury (Bethel), Andy Varner and David Slater (IWU), Joe Johnston, Drew Johnson, and Evan Brown (Marian), and Jeff Mahlburg and Kris Bradshaw (Spring Arbor).
