The Foresters picked up their first win of the season defeating Goshen College 7-2. HC had four double winners in the match. Tyler Moore won 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 at #1 singles and then teamed with Daron Short for the 8-6 win at #1 doubles Short then cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory at #4 singles. Jason Stump and Brandon Curtis dominated at #3 doubles with an 8-0 win. In singles, Brandon Curtis came from a 5-2 deficit in the second set taking the last five games of the match to earn the 6-4, 7-5 at #5, and Jason Stump had an easy time of it at #3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 for his second victory of the day. Brian Lambright also picked up a win for HC with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory at #6 singles. “I thought we played well today in spite of the wind,” said Coach Turner. “We had to make some adjustments in our shots because of the wind, but I thought we handled it better than Goshen. It is good to get that first win under your belt.” With the win, the Foresters move to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in the MCC.
