GOSHEN, Ind. - The Forester men’s tennis team continued with their hot hand this weekend, knocking off Bethel College 8-1 on Friday before taking it to Goshen College 7-2 on Saturday morning. HU stayed in Goshen to turn around and face Cornerstone University later that afternoon where they outlasted the Golden Eagles 5-4.

With these three wins, HU improves to 5-1 overall, 4-0 in conference play.

Against the Pilots, HU’s lone loss came at No. 6 singles where Zakk Sparks suffered a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Nick Kindig shortly after Sparks teamed up with Joe Brenneman to hand the Bethel duo of Caleb Hadden and Mason Heller their first loss this year at No. 3 doubles 9-8.

On Saturday versus Goshen, the Foresters started off the day with Vlad Khudziy and Jose Hungria teaming up at No. 1 doubles to knock off Luis Perez and Balazs Pirot 8-4 and remain undefeated on the season at 10-0. Joseph Straznicky and Diego Inurritegui did likewise, squeaking past Vasanthkumar Palanisamy and Matt Deslar 9-8 (7-2) to stay unblemished at 9-0.

It set the tone for the rest of the match as HU polished off their conference foe by snagging five more wins in singles action to cruise to the lopsided win.

After only a short break, Huntington went up against a formidable opponent in Cornerstone. The match started off much like the morning with HU going 2-1 in doubles action but it was a different story in singles play. With only one match remaining and the scored knotted at 4-4, the contest came down to #2 singles where Straznicky outlasted Trent Stout to not only win his match, but also give his team the overall 5-4 win.

The Foresters are back in action on Tuesday when they host Indiana Wesleyan University.
