NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The HU track and field teams competed at the Spartan Classic hosted by Manchester University Saturday afternoon.
Daniel DeBoni led the way for the men’s team by grabbing second place in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 22.84.
Two Foresters turned in solid performances in the field events. Jake Nash clinched fourth place in the high jump (6’0.75) while Jacob Stone finished sixth in pole vault (13’5.25).
Other top ten finishers for the men included Scott Skiles in the 200 meter dash (10th, 23.73), Matt Bittner in the 1500 meter run (7th, 4:17.06), Levy Francois in the 110 meter hurdles (10th, 17.83), Brandon Hunt in the 400 meter hurdles (7th, 1:00.69), Lance Wood in the 1500 meter run (5th, 4:15.95) and Logan Knox in the hammer throw (6th, 140’7) and shot put (9th, 42’7.25).
On the women’s side, Cendall Ogle took a first place finish in the 800 meter dash (2:19.60), registering the seventh best time in Forester history.
Krista Wood picked up a second place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 12:12.95 while Hannah Moore took fourth by running the 1500 meter run in 5:02.79 with teammate Gretchen Spahr not far behind in ninth (5:08.45).
Ashley Williams also entered the HU record books with a hammer throw of 106’9.75, the ninth longest toss in Forester history.
Other top ten finishers for the women included Brianna Gregory in the 100 meter dash (6th, 13.47) and long jump (3rd, 15’10.75), Holly Lutton in the 100 meter hurdles (6th, 17.61), Kim Elser in the 400 meter dash (7th, 1:06.13), Amanda Henningfield in the 400 meter dash (10th, 1:08.89), Lindsay Schroeder in pole vault (10th, 8’6.25), Darion Caldwell in long jump (7th, 14’9) and Heather Johnson in javelin (8th, 90’8).
The Foresters are back in action this weekend to compete in the Crossroads League Championships at home in Huntington University’s King Track and Field Stadium.
