Rochester Hills, Mich. - Hitting the road for the first time this season, the HU men’s soccer team (0-2) dropped a heartbreaker losing 2-1 to Rochester College in double overtime.

The Foresters came out strong and their hard work paid off in the closing seconds of the first half. After some nifty teamwork to find the open man, Adam Christner flicked it to Todd Canal inside the six where he found the open net to give HU the 1-0 lead at the halfway mark.

The Warriors evened it up eleven minutes into the second period and things remained dead-locked in regulation to force overtime. After an evenly matched first extra period, the Warriors got the break they were looking for in the second overtime when a ball skimmed off the head of a Forester defender for an own goal to give Rochester the win.

“I thought our level of play from opening kick-off was fantastic. It was good to bounce back after such a sluggish start on Monday,” commented Coach Lawson. “We played with a lot more composure and pace today.”

The Foresters are back in action on Friday, September 2 when they take on Marygrove College at the University of Saint Francis Classic.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
