The #4-seeded HU women's soccer
team fell to #1 Indiana Wesleyan 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in semi-final action of the MCC Conference Tournament.
After giving up an early score within the first four minutes of play, the Foresters held the Wildcats scoreless for the next 55 minutes to stay within striking distance. But Wildcat forward Kylie Dial took matters into her own hands to squelch HU's hopes of a come-from-behind win when she broke lose for her second goal of the day to give IWU some breathing room. She found the back of the net for a third time at the 87:55 mark to record the hat trick and give the Wildcats the decisive 3-0 win.
"When you play a team the caliber of IWU, you have to play near perfect to beat them. We made mistakes and IWU capitalized on them," commented Coach Burgher. "They are a great team, fifth in the nation, they showed it. They just have so many dangerous players. You try to shut down Megan and Kylie scores three on you."
"They're a tough team to stop but we aren't going to let this one game define our team or season. We did a lot of great things this season and our team can for sure feel proud about it."
Wesleyan outshot Huntington 21-6. Forester keeper Megan Soltow went the distance in goal to finish with five saves.
The Foresters set a new school record with ten wins this season. They wrap up the year with a 10-9-1 record.
