Ganton, Ramey acknowledged as Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the weeks of December 12-January 1, 2006. Men’s basketball junior Kyle Ganton and women’s basketball senior Jessica Ramey earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.


Jessica Ramey

Jessica Ramey, a recreation management major from Kimmell, Ind. (West Noble High School), had three outstanding games over the holiday break. In Huntington’s 80-62 win over Siena Heights University, Ramey set a career high with 11 assists in the game. In the Foresters’ two games at the Taylor University Tournament, she set back-to-back career highs with 28 points on Friday against Georgetown College (ranked 11th in NAIA Div. I) and followed that up with 29 on Saturday against Ohio Dominican University. For the three games, Ramey shot 53 percent (24-45) from the field, 43 percent (6-14) from behind the arc, and 75 percent (9-12) from the line. She also was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Taylor Tournament. Ramey is currently averaging 14.0 points and 4.2 assists per game for Huntington. The Foresters return to conference play on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, when they travel to Marian College at 7 p.m.


Kyle Ganton

Kyle Ganton, an elementary education major from Coldwater, Mich. (Bronson High School), put together three solid performances to help Huntington go 3-0 over the past two weeks of play. He averaged 21.3 points and 8.3 boards per contest while shooting 53 percent (24-45) from the field, including 50 percent (8-16) from 3-point range, and a perfect 8-8 from the line. He capped off the three game stretch with a double-double of 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in Huntington’s 74-54 win over NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan College. Ganton is the Foresters’ second-leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 18.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Huntington’s next action will take place at home when they host conference rival Marian College on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at 7 p.m.
