Gerke sets new HU men's decathlon record

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Freshman Brooks Gerke established a new HU men’s decathlon record last week at the Gregory Final Qualifier Track and Field meet hosted by North Central College. The Lakewood Park Christian product scored 5,527 points in ten events to finish sixth out of eight athletes.

Gerke took top honors in javelin with a winning toss of 45.09 meters. He claimed three other top three finishes which included second in pole vault (4.02m), third in the 100 meters (11.60) and third in high jump (1.83m). Rounding out his score included fourth in long jump (6.27m), fifth in discus (29.65m), seventh in shot put (10.73m), seventh in the 400 meters (54.58), seventh in 110 meter hurdles (19.67) and seventh in the 1500 meters (5:34.56).

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
