Grossman named HU Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of October 14, 2013. Volleyball senior Melissa Grossman earned the honor for her outstanding effort at the Davenport University Invitational.

Grossman helped guide the Foresters to three wins against just one loss over the weekend. HU’s only loss came in the first match of the invite against the 24th-ranked host Panthers where Grossman finished with four kills and three blocks.

The Huntington native (Huntington North H.S.) proved to be her team’s main offensive target the rest of the weekend as she tallied 13 kills against Rochester. On Saturday she posted 16 kills and a .406 hitting percentage against Aquinas before wrapping up the weekend with 14 kills against the University of Michigan Dearborn.

In addition to averaging nearly 12 kills per contest, she also recorded just over three blocks per match and for her efforts was named to the All-Tournament team.

Grossman currently leads the team in kills with 213 and blocks with 85.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
