HC took to the field for the first time, literally, as they opened their season at Manchester College. The Foresters, who have only been able to practice in the fieldhouse, played well in their first outing, but dropped both games of the doubleheader. In the first game, the Foresters owned a 3-1 lead as they headed into the bottom of the sixth, but the Spartans plated five during their at-bat and handed HC the 6-3 loss. Kendra Stahl and Renae Schortgen each had two hits in the game and Emily Burkholder added a triple. Stahl (0-1) went the distance in the loss for HC. In the nightcap, the Foresters struggled at the plate, managing just three hits in the 3-0 shutout. Liz Rapone (0-1) went five innings in the loss and gave up just one run. Schortgen came on in relief in the sixth and gave up two unearned runs.
