BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Forester cross country teams ran against a host of other Hoosier schools at the Indiana Intercollegiate Little State on Friday on the campus of Indiana University where the women finished 5th out of 18 teams while the men ran to a 9th place finish amidst a field of 19 teams.
Cendall Ogle paced the HU women in the 5K by finishing 9th in 19:41.34. Placing 38th for the Foresters was Marie Ditzler who ran a 20:50.60. Hannah Moore turned in a 20:53.40 to finish 41st. On her heels was Natalie Spahr with a 43rd place finish in 21:00.04. Krista Wood crossed the line in 21:18.11 good for 51st place.
Other runners for Huntington included Erin Rockey (55th, 21:24.13) and Miranda Boyts (64th, 21:42.58).
The University of Indianapolis captured the women’s title with 44 points. Rounding out the top five included DePauw (56), Taylor (71), Manchester (174) and HU (182).
In the men’s 8K, Tyler Herber topped the Foresters by finishing 20th in 27:08.20. Eric Baker crossed the line next for HU in 28:03.03 to finish 38th. Just over a minute later, Austin Presnell came in 65th in 29:03.56 followed by Josh Graham in 29:14.03 good for 68th place.
Seth Murphy rounded out Huntington’s scoring with his 88th place finish in 30:11.81. Other runners for HU included Stephen Kays (95th, 30:40.40) and Brian Menzie (106th, 31:30.42).
Winning the men’s race was Wabash College with 42 points. The top ten finishers included Indianapolis (45), Manchester (75), Rose-Hulman (156) and Taylor (157), DePauw (176), Franklin (260), Vincennes (266), HU (279) and Hanover (282).
The Foresters have a two-week break before traveling to Hanover College on October 5th for the NCAA III Pre-Nationals.
