HU finishes strong to place 7th at Pilot Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After shooting a 320 on Friday, the HU golf team shot a 315 on day two of the Pilot Spring Invitational hosted by Bethel College to move up a spot in the standings to finish 7th out of 16 teams.

Lance Hoch paced Huntington with an 11-over 155 (77, 78) to finish in a tie for 21 out of 81 golfers. Shooting within two strokes of Hoch was Devin Dale who carded a 157 (79, 78). Derek Zurcher posted a 159 (83, 76) while Ryan Boester rounded out his team’s scoring with a 164 (81, 83). Drew Benedict registered a 178 (95, 83) as HU’s No. 5 golfer.

Among its league foes, the Foresters finished behind Bethel, Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan while topping Grace by three strokes.

The Foresters are currently riding a record of 25-50-1. They take the links again on Monday to play in the Taylor University Spring Invitational at Purdue’s Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
