SILVIS, Ill. - The Forester golf team was a picture of consistency as they shot a 311 both rounds of the NAIA Midwest Fall Classic to finish sixth out of 19 teams with a team total of 622.
Sitting in eighth place, three strokes behind Dakota Wesleyan and conference foe Indiana Wesleyan, after Monday’s round, the Foresters’ steadiness paid off as they finished two strokes ahead of DWU and nine strokes in front of IWU to climb two spots in the final standings.
Freshman Rylan Porter led HU with a ten-over 152 (78, 74) to finish tied for 17th overall. Devin Dale carded a 12-over 154 (79, 75) to share a spot at 24th.
After shooting a four-over 75 on Monday, Josh Teulker finished with a 157, tied for 33rd. Mickey Belt finished tied for 44th with a 159 (79, 80) while Lance Hoch shot a 170 (83, 87) which tied him for 76th.
Ashford University never wavered from atop of the leaderboard shooting an eight-over-par 292 on Monday to finish the tournament with a 594 followed by Mount Mercy (596), Marian (597), Grand View (605), Nebraska Wesleyan (608), Huntington (622), Dakota Wesleyan (624), Indiana Wesleyan (631), AIB (637), St. Francis (IL) (638), Viterbo (639), Clarke (644), Roosevelt (649), St. Ambrose (650), Olivet Nazarene (668), St. Ambrose White (675), St. Ambrose Red (679), Iowa Wesleyan (693) and Benedictine Springfield (695).
The NAIA Midwest Fall Classic was hosted by St. Ambrose University and played Monday and Tuesday as TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. The tournament was a 36-hole event on the par 71, 7,256 yard course.
HU wraps up the fall portion of their schedule with a record of 46-19.
