HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University men’s soccer and head coach Russ Lawson have announced their first recruit to the 2014 incoming class with the signing of Southfield Christian High School standout Aaron Harting.

“The coaching staff is thrilled that Aaron has decided to continue his playing career at Huntington,” says Lawson. “His touch and ability to combine with his teammates will enable him to make a smooth transition to the speed of the collegiate game.

“Aaron is an attack-minded player who has the versatility to play the flanks and in a target role. He is composed with the ball at his feet, reads the game well and knows when to send the penetrating ball.”

This year Harting was selected to the Michigan Independent Athletic All-Conference Team along with being named to the All-District Team for the second straight year.

When not playing for the Eagles, the Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) native plays his club ball for the Michigan Impact, one of the Detroit area top clubs competing in the Midwest Regional League.

As a member of the National Honor Society, Harting will enter Huntington with just as much promise in the classroom as on the field. This HU honor student is leaning towards a major in economics or international business.

Aaron is the son of Keith and Denise Harting from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
