HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University Men’s Soccer Coach Russ Lawson is pleased to introduce Brooks Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind.) as the latest member of the 2014 incoming class.
“The coaching staff is thrilled that Brooks has decided to continue his playing career as a Forester,” says Lawson. “His vision and touch are excellent, which will enable him to make a smooth transition to the speed of the collegiate game.
“He is an offensive minded player who has the versatility to play the flank and target roles. Brooks also reads the game extremely well and has a fantastic work rate that allows him to get in behind defenses on a consistent basis.”
As a four year starter at Blackhawk Christian High School, Smith amassed 27 goals and 43 assists. He saved his best for last by leading the Braves to a sectional championship while being named to the Indiana All District Team and News-Sentinel All-Area Team this past season.
Smith leaves his legacy at BCHS as the all-time assist leader. The forward played his club soccer for Fort Wayne United at the Academy level.
The son of Curtis and Jessica from Fort Wayne, Ind., Smith will major in Sports Management at Huntington.
