HU women qualify for NAIA Bowling Championships

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has released its qualifying teams for the 2014 NAIA Invitational Team Championships and among the list of invitees is the Forester women’s bowling team.

Huntington, ranked 11th among its NAIA peers across the nation, is one of twenty NAIA programs invited to compete in the championships on March 28-30 at the Brunswick Zone Hawthorn Bowl in Vernon Hills, IL.

Invitations were based on the final power rankings. Teams competing include:

6) Grand View University
7) St. Ambrose University
8) Ashford University
9) Marian University
10) Mount Mercy University
11) Huntington University
12) Clarke University
13) Emmanuel College

15) Baker University
16) Calumet College of St. Joseph
17) University of Northwestern Ohio
18) University of St. Francis (IL)
19) Campbellsville University

If Pikeville or Campbellsville earn the Mid-South Conference automatic bid (awarded 2/23), Martin Methodist College will receive the final at large bid.

The Huntington men’s bowling team just missed getting invited to the championships as they were ranked 24th in the final NAIA poll.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
