Ill. - The Forester women’s bowling team had a sensational weekend at the Tier
1 Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic where they finished sixth among a
field of 53 schools. Bowling nine games on the extremely difficult Kegel
Turnpike lane pattern, HU finished with 8,317 pins to beat nine top 20 teams
including No. 1 Robert Morris (IL), No. 8 Davenport and No. 9 Midland. On the men’s side, HU racked up 8,121 total pins
to finish 42nd out of 56. Leading the way was Joe Miller who tallied
1664 pins through nine game to finish 95th out of 390 bowlers with a
184.8 average. Derek Beckler was the only other Forester to bowl all nine
games. His average of 179.9 landed him 106th place. Connor Brown
topped out with a 200.6 average through eight games to finish 112th
while Tyler Neff averaged a 170.9 through seven games.
Ayla Yeiter sparked the Foresters with her 191.3 nine-game average to finish 29th
individually out of 338 bowlers. Finishing 11 pins behind her in 33rd
place was Shelby New who turned in a 190.1 average. Casandra Griffith averaged
a 183.2 to place 62nd while Brooke Ewing posted a 178.4 average for
Other bowlers for HU included Emily O’Leary (eight-game average of 178.4) and
Emerald Leong (one game of 200).
Wichita State claimed the women’s title with 9488 pins. Rounding out the top five
places were Grand View (9050), Lindenwood (8740), Wright State (8678), Notre
Dame College (8528).
Other bowlers for Huntington included Dan Miller (six-game average of 170.5),
James Knapp (five-game average of 171.4) and Adam Harris-Shoemaker (one game of
Notre Dame College took home the trophy for the men with 9566 pins with the
other top five finishers being Wichita State (9557), Robert Morris (9365),
Wisconsin-Whitewater (9289) and William Penn (9192).
Huntington is back in action next weekend to compete in the Buckeye Classic at
HPL Bowling Center in Columbus, Ohio.
