Hughes to continue his soccer career at HU

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University Men’s Soccer Coach Russ Lawson has announced that Lakewood Park Christian High School senior RJ Hughes has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for the Foresters this fall.

This past season Hughes anchored the backline in a center back role leading his team to its fourth consecutive sectional championship.

“We are very excited that RJ will continue his career at Huntington,” says Lawson. “With his ability to read the game, win balls, and distribute, we are expecting great things.”

Hughes currently plays his club ball for the Rangers Academy in Indiana .

The Fort Wayne native has also excelled in the classroom, having earned a spot on the 2013 Indiana Coaches Association All-Academic Team. Hughes will enter HU as Presidential Scholar

RJ is the son of John and Denise Hughes of Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
