Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College athletic department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of May 9-15, 2005. Women’s track and field junior Lisa Isabelli and men’s track and field sophomore Cody Hannie earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week.
Lisa Isabelli, a recreation management major from Shorewood, Ill. (Joliet West High School), competed in her final track meet of the season at Indiana Wesleyan on May 12. Ranked seventh in the women’s hammer throw, Isabelli threw an 11-foot personal record to finish fourth. Her throw of 137 feet, 2 inches places her third all-time in the hammer throw at Huntington College. The event proved successful for Isabelli during the season as she achieved a 33 foot improvement from her sophomore year.
Cody Hannie, an English Education major from Ft. Wayne, Indiana (Snider High School), won the men’s 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.08 at the Indiana Wesleyan open meet on May 12. Hannie’s best time of 1:53.98, which he ran on May 7, is third all-time on the Forester 800 meter run list. Hannie’s best time also qualified him for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships to be held May 26-28 in Louisville, Ky.
The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eight years, Huntington has produced 52 NAIA All-American honors and 102 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
