HUNTINGTON, Ind. - It was another high-intensity battle Saturday afternoon in front of a large home crowd as the Forester men’s soccer team came up short against a solid Grace College team to open up league play. The Lancers scored the game’s only goal in the 22nd minute to escape King Stadium with a 1-0 win.

With this loss, the Foresters drop to 4-5 overall, 0-1 on conference while Grace improves to 5-2 on the year, 1-0 in league play.

“I was pleased with our work rate and intensity,” said Coach Lawson. “This is the type of effort we need to have to pull out results in this conference. It’s going to be this type of battle every night from here on out.”

The Foresters generated eight shots to Grace’s 10 but Lawson knows his team wasn’t as sharp offensively as they needed to be, “If we’re honest with ourselves, we didn’t generate scoring opportunities like we know we’re capable of. Grace’s backline is organized and we couldn’t consistently find a way to break them down.”

Drew Mattingly took the loss in goal. He finished with three saves.

The Foresters are back in action on Wednesday when they host Mount Vernon at 4:00 p.m.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
