Nash and Sparks heading to Nationals

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Jake Nash and freshman Christine Sparks will be making their college debut at the 2014 NAIA National Track & Field Indoor Championships to take place March 6-8 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Nash (Lebanon, OH, Dayton Christian HS) punched his ticket in high jump on February 1 at the Taylor University Indoor Invitational. Not only did his leap of 6-7 secure his spot at nationals, it also set a new school record.

Sparks will be representing HU in the 1,000 meters. Running this race for the first time in her collegiate career, the Bloomington native (Bloomington North HS) qualified on February 22 at the DePauw Classic where she ran a 3:02.37, the second fastest time in HU history.

She enters the race as the 20th seed and will toe the line for the semis on Friday, March 7 at 3:45 p.m. The finals are slated for Saturday, March 8 at 1:45 p.m.
