HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington North High School standout Kyle Platt has decided to take his talents across town to play for his dad and become the fourth addition to the 2014-15 Huntington University men’s basketball roster as officially announced Friday.

Platt has established himself as one of the best shooters to have ever donned a Viking uniform. He will graduate as HNHS’s all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage for a season (53.5 percent) and career (47.0 percent).

In his final campaign, Platt averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per night and for his efforts received numerous awards. In addition to receiving NCC First Team All-Conference honors, the 6’6 forward was also recognized as a Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 100 Senior and IBCA All-State Honor Mention pick.

Platt has also experienced much success in the classroom where he boasts an 11.2 GPA. The 2014 First Team Academic All-Stater will enter HU as a Presidential Scholar.

“We are very excited about the addition of Kyle to our Forester basketball program,” said Coach Platt of his son. “With his signing, the 2014 recruiting class continues to become one of the strongest classes of talent we have had in a recent history.

“Kyle is an excellent shooter, handles the ball very well for a 6’6 kid, knows how to score in around the basket, has a great feel and knowledge of the game, and has a very high ceiling. Kyle is an outstanding student and is a person of high character. We are very confident Kyle will have an outstanding career as a Forester.”

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
