Saints blank Foresters 2-0

ADRIAN, Mich. - It was another match where the Forester men’s soccer team got down early and weren’t able to recover as they were blanked by Siena Heights 2-0 on Saturday night in Adrian, Michigan. It’s HU’s second consecutive loss as they drop to 4-3.

The Saints wasted no time getting on the board, scoring on their second shot of the night at the 14:59 mark. Fifteen minutes later they struck again. Little did anyone suspect that would be the game’s last goal as they rode it out for the win.

After only generating four shots through the first 45 minutes, the Foresters regrouped at halftime to outshot SHU 9-6 in the final period. While HU generated several quality opportunities, they were never able to find back netting as Lawson’s squad finished with 13 shots, six on frame, to Siena Heights’ 15.

Drew Mattingly finished with six saves in the losing effort.

“This was a tough week for us,” said Coach Lawson. “We’ve dropped three of our four last matches but I am confident that playing against quality opponents will help us as we prepare for conference.”

Huntington has one more non-conference match, a home contest against Trinity Christian on Wednesday, before jumping into league play on Saturday.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
