HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University head coach Amy Settle announced this week that Elkhart Central High School standout Kate Cobb has signed with the Foresters.

A 5-foot-6 defensive specialist, Cobb was fittingly named the defensive player of the year in each of her last two seasons while guiding her team to a Final Four appearance at the IHSAA State Championship this past fall.

The Second Team All-Conference pick finished the season with 412 digs for a 4.0 average per set. She also tallied 442 serve receptions and recorded 23 aces for her 30-4 Blazers.

“HU Volleyball is excited to welcome Kate Cobb to our 2014 squad,” said Coach Settle. “Kate is an outstanding libero who will make an immediate impact on our program. She has the training and talent to be among the top liberos in the league, and we are thrilled that she has chosen to be a Forester.”

Katie is the daughter of David and Jennifer Cobb of Elkhart, Ind.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
