Speed earns HU Athlete of the Week honors

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 11, 2013. Women’s basketball senior Pazia Speed earned the honor for her outstanding effort this past week.

Speed, a 5-foot-7 guard, averaged 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals to lead the Foresters to a 1-1 week. In Tuesday’s 69-62 road win over Holy Cross, the Portland (Ind.) native poured in a career-best 33 points which included going a perfect 17-for-17 from the charity stripe. She also ripped down four boards and swiped three steals in HU’s first win of the season.

Against 9th-ranked Campbellsville University on Saturday, Speed finished with a team-high 15 points to go along with a game-high six assists, five rebounds and three steals. She connected on five of her six free tosses to finish the week shooting 95.7 percent from the line (22-for-23).

The Foresters are currently 1-2 on the season and have a break until this weekend when they host their own tournament. They will face Wilberforce University at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
