HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Crossroads League announced its softball postseason awards for the 2014 spring season and among the list of honorees were sophomores Annie Weaver and Katie DePew and senior Katie Knous.

An honorable mention pick last year as a rookie, Weaver more than doubled her offensive output this season and for her efforts received All-Conference accolades. She crushed the program record for hits in a season with 85 which included 12 for extra bases.

As HU’s leadoff hitter, she currently holds three top ten national rankings including at bats per game (3rd, 3.706), total hits (6th, 85) and hits per game (8th, 1.667). The Auburn (Ind.) native (Lakewood Park Christian) leads the team with a .450 batting average and has scored 47 runs and driven in 26 more.

Along with Weaver, DePew was also voted All-Conference this season. She (Garrett, Ind., Garrett HS) carries a batting average of .379, the second best on the team, and has logged 25 RBI and 64 hits which included nine doubles and two triples. Defensively, she has committed eight errors on the season at second for a fielding percentage of .958.

The conference added golden glove awards this year and Knous (Decatur, Ind., Bellmont HS) was selected as the Crossroads League first ever gold glover at shortstop as voted on by the league coaches. To date, Knous has committed only ten errors through 51 games at the game’s most dynamic defensive position for a fielding percentage of .950. She has posted 88 putouts to go along with 103 assists.
