The Foresters (5-2) overcame a 10-point second half deficit to take a 53-49 lead with four minutes to play, but couldn't make it stick as the Indiana University South Bend Titans outlasted HU 59-56.

The Foresters made their job difficult from the start spotting IUSB 10 points to start the game. HU was still down 25-15 with 5:46 to go in the half before finally putting together some solid play at both ends of the floor. HU's defense held the Titans scoreless the remainder of the half and managed to cut the deficit to three at 25-22 by the break.

The second half started much like the first with IUSB reclaiming a 10-point advantage six minutes into the period. Again the Forester defense stepped up holding the Titans to three points over a five-minute span which allowed HU to pull within four at 40-36. The Foresters took their first lead of the game on a Courtney Beerbower free throw at 48-47 with 5:49 to play. A baseline jumper and free throw by Erica Yost and a driving pull-up from Lauren Davenport gave HU a 53-49 lead. Back-to-back buckets from IUSB's point guard, Courtney Flanigan, knotted the score at 53.

Jenna Donaldson's jumper put HU back in front and the Foresters still held a 56-55 lead with 1:48 to play. IUSB jumped back on top with an old-fashioned three-point play by Jennifer VanderZanden and after a Forester miss, Flanigan added a free throw to make it 59-56 with 17 seconds play. Donaldson's three-point attempt with seven seconds left was off the mark.

The Titans' VanderZanden led all scorers in the game with 18 points and Flanigan added 16. HU was led by Courtney Beerbower's 14 points. Kendra Stahl chipped in 13 off the bench and Lauren Davenport had 11. Despite shooting just 35.2% (19-54) for the game, the Foresters still managed to stay in the game while IUSB went 21-42 from the field for 50%. HU also struggled at the line hitting 16 of 24 free throws for 67%
