Trolls score in final ten minutes to slip past HU 1-0

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington men’s soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 1-0 loss to Trinity Christian College Wednesday afternoon at King Stadium.

It was a match that slipped away from the Foresters as the Trolls cashed in on a loose ball in the box with just under eight minutes remaining to log the game’s only goal and steal the road win. It was the second consecutive match where HU played evenly with their opponent but failed to put points on the board.

TCC finished with ten shots, six on frame, to HU’s seven, five of which were on goal. HU keeper Drew Mattingly tallied five saves on the day.

“Our defensive performance was much better today,” said Coach Lawson. “I intentionally ramped up our non-conference season this year so while we haven’t gotten recent results we would have wanted, I know they are better preparing us for league play.”

The Foresters (4-4) host Grace College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
