Huntington, Ind.—Holt High School (Mich.) standout Nate Vandlen, son of Jill and Tim Vandlen of Dimondale, Mich., has made his decision to attend Huntington College official, signing a letter of intent recently to join the Foresters for the 2000-01 season. During his senior year, Vandlen hit .381 with 1 HR and 23 RBI.
“We are excited that Nate has decided to continue his education and play baseball at HC,” said Huntington College men’s baseball coach Mike Frame. “We think he is going to be a solid college player and we are excited to have him as a part of Forester Baseball.”
Frame said he will test Vandlen all around the infield going into the season. Regardless of his position, though, Frame believes Vandlen’s ability to swing the bat and defensive flexibility will help HC next year.
Huntington College is a member of the Mid-Central Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA), Division II. The Foresters finished 29-18 this season, capturing the MCC Tournament championship to earn a berth in the Region 8 tournament.
HC is a private, Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students. The Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for both men and women.
