Wildcats outlast Foresters 2-0

MARION, Ind. -After over 70 minutes of scoreless soccer, Indiana Wesleyan scored twice in a seven-minute span to lift the Wildcats past the Forester women's soccer team 2-0 on opening day of league play.

Wesleyan, who received votes in the last NAIA poll, outshot their visitors 18-9 and despite finding themselves on defense more often than not, the Foresters were able to hold IWU at bay until Kelsey Johnston cracked HU's defense in the 73rd minute to make it 1-0. Seven minutes later, the Wildcats found the back of the net again to give them a two-goal cushion that they were able to ride out for the win.

Samantha Barclay finished with eight saves in goal.

Wesleyan is the only team this season to hold the Foresters (7-3, 0-1) scoreless. HU is back in action on Saturday when they play Grace College at 12:00 p.m. at the Fort Wayne Sport Club.
