Wood named HU Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of April 7, 2014. Women’s track sophomore Krista Wood earned the honor for her outstanding effort at HU’s Track & Field Invitational over the weekend.

Wood’s time of 11:26.06 in the 3000 meter steeplechase not only earned her HU’s only top finish of the day for the women, but also broke the school record by nearly seven seconds. With that time, the Waterville, OH native (Toledo Christian) also hit the qualifying provisional mark to land a spot at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships slated for May 22-24.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
