Dr. Judith Rood to discuss Mideast peace process

Huntington College’s Forester Lecture Series presents Dr. Judith Rood to address “The Peace Process: Reflections on Justice, Repentance, and Reconciliation—A Biblical Approach.” The free, public lecture will take place April 29 at 7 p.m. in the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Dr. Rood serves as Associate Professor of History and Middle East Studies at William Tyndale College. Her presentation will be of interest to all concerned for a lasting peace in the Middle East. For more information, call (260) 359-4243 or visit www.huntington.edu/fls.

Dr. Rood received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1993. Her doctoral dissertation was entitled “Sacred Law in the Holy City: A Study in the Theory and Practice of Government in Jerusalem under Ottoman and Khedival Rule 1831-1839.” She has published numerous articles and book reviews on the topic of the Middle East, and has also been the keynote speaker for many conferences and workshops. Dr. Rood’s current research interests include: the positive and negative roles of faith in political action; altruism; Islamic history and law; Middle Eastern human rights issues; the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; and global history from a Christian perspective.
