Huntington to host first ever Saturday visit day

FOR RELEASE
2007-02-12
Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University has seen a dramatic increase in scheduled visits for the current year. With approximately 300 more visits this year compared to last, the Admissions Department has been encouraging prospective students to attend one of several group visit days.

On Feb. 17, Huntington will host its first ever Saturday visit day. Faculty and current students from a variety of disciplines will give visitors an overview of what Huntington has to offer.

“This year there has been an increase in prospective students and their parents asking for Saturday visits,” said Carlene Peters, Campus Visit Coordinator. “This visit was created to fit into their schedules better.”

The day will include a campus tour, interaction with professors, a panel discussion with faculty and students, and time with the admissions department to discuss the admissions process and financial aid. Lunch will also be provided.

The Saturday visit has been designed to give a general glimpse of academics and student life at HU. Since it has not been designed with a specific program in mind, all high school students are welcome.

In the afternoon, there are two optional events. At 2 p.m. the theatre department will be performing “Crimes of the Heart,” a play using humor to examine the plight of three young Mississippi sisters betrayed by their passions. At 3 p.m., the men’s basketball team will host Grace College.

“Since visitors will be unable to attend a class during this visit, we encourage them to attend one of the afternoon options,” said Peters. “These are two big events on campus that will allow visitors to interact with student life on campus.”

If you would like to attend the Saturday visit, it is necessary to RSVP no later than Feb. 14. You may do so by contacting the admissions office at (800) 642-6493 or email our campus visit coordinator, Carlene Peters, at cpeters@huntington.edu. If you would like to RSVP via the internet, visit www.huntington.edu/admissions/visit/default.htm and click the Saturday visit day link.
