Berry, Beach named Forester Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of January 30 – February 5, 2006. Men’s track freshman Lucas Beach and women’s basketball junior Amy Berry earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.

Amy Berry, a public relations major from Marion, Ind. (Oak Hill High School), earned the honors for a second consecutive week by averaging 22 points and eight boards in the Foresters’ two wins. In Huntington’s 63-43 victory over Grace, Berry recorded her first double-double of the season with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. On Saturday, she scored 21 points in the Foresters’ 70-50 upset over NAIA 23rd-ranked Marian College. Berry continues to lead the Foresters in scoring at 16.9 points per game and she grabs 5.1 boards per game. Huntington (14-10, 9-4) will next travel to Goshen College on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 7 p.m.

Lucas Beach
Lucas Beach, a Bible and religion and physical education double major from Lucerne, Ind. (Pioneer High School) recorded a personal best for the second straight week in the shot put. After posting a mark of 48' 11.5" last week, Beach had a toss of 49' 8" at the Taylor University Invitational to win the event on Saturday. His new mark is the second-best toss on the HU record books. The Foresters’ indoor season continues on Friday, February 10, 2006, at Ohio Northern University at 6:15 p.m.
